Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
The poor in spirit is one who is deeply sensible of his spiritual poverty and wretchedness. In the Greek, it means; to tremble, or shrink with fear. Shrinking with fear lest he should perish without salvation of God, which Jesus offers joyfully.
Let's be encouraged today that in heaven we will participate in all the blessings of the new covenant and receive glory from above. We need not shrink or fear, for God is on our side!
