Isaiah 53:4 "Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our
sorrows; Yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him and
afflicted."
Infirmities and sorrows refer to the consequences of sin. Jesus, our
Savior, came to suffer for us and die for our sins. People at that time felt
that Jesus had been smitten by God because he was killed on the Cross.
Let's be encouraged today, as we thank Jesus for all that He has done for
us. He was bruised for our iniquities, and the chastisement for our peace was
upon Him. His love for us is eternal!
